Kit

Last Wednesday, August 19th, I met a kitten.
He was found at my work and had nowhere to go. My husband and I decided to take him in, but only temporarily. We will find him home later. We called him Kit, which was short for kitten.

Kit looked very weak. Vet said he was severely dehydrated besides having other health conditions. After receiving a fluid therapy, he perked up a little. I heard his sweet purring. Let's get better, sweetheart. But next day, something looked wrong with him. We rushed to the vet. They tried to save Kit, but his body was giving up. I could only cry and stroke his body. He was gone.

Kit was only about eight weeks old. Why couldn't I save him? I hope my tears help his innocent soul. My husband suggested that we adopted Kit, so he didn't die homeless. I agreed, Kit is our family. Brother of Goro & Niko.

Thank you for reading this story, and knowing that he was here. No life is meaningless. With his tiny body, Kit fought for life bravely. Although the time we spent together was way too short, we will remember him forever.
This week we received Kit's ashes. He is home.

  1. Oh look at that poor precious little baby, I'm in tears just reading your post and seeing his pic. Bless you for taking him and doing your best. At least Kit didn't die alone on a street. Not every life is meant to be saved, we all know this, though it's terribly sad and unfair. There wasn't a thing you could do but give love, and that you did. Lots of hugs and purrs. Maybe Kit's soul will come back at some future point; who knows, you might be reunited. Peace.

  21. Dear little Kit. This is so sad. You did the best you could. He was such a precious kitty - if only he had not been alone for so long. It is so hard to watch such a sweet soul have to pass so young.

  24. This post touches me deeply, as having had cats all my life (and I have one now, too), this brought tears to my eyes. Little Kit is in God's hands now and he was truly blessed to have his last moments with you, which I am sure he appreciated, and he tried to show it with his purr, even though he was very ill. Bless your heart for the kindness and love you showed to Little Kit. He is no longer suffering, which is a good thing, he is now at peace.

  36. I am so sorry...sorry that you had to lose such a sweet little one, sorry that all of your love and kindness couldn't save him.

Sorry that there are still people out there who feel animals are just expendable trash. To be ignored and mistreated and tossed out. And it makes me angry at them.

But I am also so very thankful that you took the kitten home, that you cared enough to look after him, give him a home, and love for as long as it could stay here on earth.

And I'm thankful for the outpouring of grief in your comments, because that means that people do care, that there are good people in this world. Who value, and treasure animals...those are the words, and emotions that we need to keep in our heart to comfort us.

There are wonderful people in this world, that cherish and love animals... you and your husband are some of them.

Many sad hugs Tamago...tears are running down my face...I'm so sorry.

  38. Oh, we are so sorry that precious, beautiful little bundle of fur had to go so soon. Bless you for adopting him, loving him and doing what you could for him. It does not take long for those little sweeties to grab a large part of our heart and it is painful when they leave no matter how short or long the time is that they are with us. Sending you big, warm gentle hugs and purrs. Prayers for you too.

  45. Dearest Tamago,
So very sorry to read this, it brings tears...
We were in NYC for 4 nights and came home on Monday evening so I got way behind with blog reading and everything.
It hurts so much to know that still there are people out there that just neglect such cute, tiny little kittens. WHY? This poor thing only got to know human love in its final days... You loved him and that is a comfort knowing that Kit went to heaven, having at least sampled true love and shelter. Yes, he IS home.
Thank you for your sweet love to those innocent little critters.
    Hugs and blessings,
    Mariette

  49. We just read this Tamago. It is clear by his photo that Kit was a very delicate and ill little kitten. We are so glad that he fell into your hands and that you helped him as much as you could before his time to leave came.He knew and felt your love.He was not alone. He was given a name. He now has a resting place with you in your family. That is more than enough. May he rest in peace.Love and hugs to you.

  53. Oh My Goodness this is the story of Lil One. Dad fostered kittens from New Jersey and they were too young. One was very small and ill so he went to the vet. Dad fed him by hand but he faded. They call this "Kitten Fading Syndrome" where we live. Some are just destined to go home over the Rainbow Bridge but Lil One and Kit did have Love and Homes. This is the circle of life and giving back the love we receive so freely from our loved furs.
Thank you for sharing with us and giving Kit a home.
Love Purrs and Prayers of Support at this sad time
