Sweet Meow

Niko has the sweetest voice in the world.

His charming meow is like singing,
or like he is twinkling.

Even his cat fight voice is twinkly.

Niko makes the cutest sound when
he yawns in mid-meow :-)

But in the early summer, I noticed a change.

Niko's meow started
coming out hoarse and crackly.

I turned on humidifier and air purifier,
hoping they would help.

Then to the Vet.

(Due to COVID-19, pawrents had to wait outside)

Nose drops were suggested as one of
the treatment options.

I got you a magic water, Niko.

Although I practiced, my hand trembled.
The drop went right into his eye.

SO SORRY, Niko...

Anyway over time, his voice improved.
Eventually, Niko's sweet twinkle was back!

I keep watching his condition closely,
and hope it stays OK!

We hope you all stay healthy as well!

  1. Niko, we are glad that you have your twinkle back!
Going to the vet is harder on the human than on the cat, Niko...trust us on this...especially when said human cannot accompany you into the office! We are nervous wrecks until you come out again, into our waiting arms.

  2. Oh, I am thankful Niko is better and has his sweet meow back. It is so scary when our babies are not well. The wait in the hot parking lot at the vet's office is horrible. Sending hugs and love.

  3. Dearest Tamago,
    Poor Niko,
We always worry so much if our babies change only the slightest.
Sad that his nose drops went into his eye. WISH they could really tal to us and tell us more in detail what they feel, what they sense.
They are so very sweet and communicative in their own way.
    Love your photos!
    Big hugs,
Mariett, Pieter + all six kitties

  4. We hope you're all better soon Niko. We've used those drops before and they do come out quickly. We ended up putting some in a teaspoon then sucking it up in a syringe and then used the syringe to put it in the nose.

  6. Can we have a video next time? We would love to hear it! Our Genji has a really sweet voice too, but his great specialty (and secret weapon) is the silent meow.

    Purrs,

  28. I am glad that you managed to give him his medication ! with cats it's always an adventure ! I noticed since a few days that Rosie is constipated ! I don't know since when. I called my vet, I have to put parafin oil over her food ! Didn't know that ! That you had to wait outside because of this dammit virus is really bad ! I am so fed up with all these rules and nothing is going on it's just like on a graveyard !!

  29. Tamago, I love the poetic way you describe Niko's meow! I do hope he is okay, perhaps he just had some seasonal allergies.
