Milk

What, Goro?

Oh, don't worry. It's Niko's kneading time.

As much as Niko loves making biscuits,
he also enjoys having milk with it.

When he kneads his blanket, he sometimes chews on it,
too, just as if he were nursing. I read this is a comfort
behavior that he remembers from when he was a baby.

Niko sometimes wakes me up in the midnight by his
loud purring during biscuit-making and milk-kneading.

It's such a happy sound, though.

Even if I end up not getting enough sleep,
I spend the whole day feeling happy and smiling :-)

  1. that's sweet! it's funny, i never mind being awoken in the night by my kitties, but if a human wakes me, that's not so fun!

  4. Niko, I love making biscuits, too. But I've never had milk when I make them. I must be missing something!

  5. Binga does this too. And she kneads with her claws full out... which is kind of fun to watch if the blanket is thin and there is a human underneath it.

  6. The Baby does that too! Occasionally she does it standing up and kneads with all four paws--Mommy calls it the "Sucky Dance", MOL!

  11. Haha ~ oh that Niko is so cute! I don't think being woken up by purring and biscuit making would be so bad. Sometimes I wake up from the sound of Banjo chewing and bitting his toe nails.... yuck!! LOL!

    Have a happy week kitties!

  13. Niko, we sure are glad to meet someone else that does that. Mahoney does that all the time. We thought it was her mother was taken away from her at a very early age. She does love to do it. She doesn't purr when she does it, she just chews and kneads. It does seem to make them very happy.

Give him a big belly rub from me.

  24. Dearest Tamago,

This was another great post! You are so artistic in capturing the true cat-mind with this. Oh, this morning Barty did wake me up after only 5 hours of sleep. He was kneading biscuits and not letting go till I was fully awake. They do LOVE us though and I'm like you, sure we sacrifice some sleeping time. But what's more important? Being completely happy and feeling loved or just sleeping...?
    Love to you,

    Mariette

  25. The Human hadded a kitteh that did that all the time! He used to suck contentedly for hours on the fringe of an area rug! Me, I can be bothered with sucking on something that doesn't give me no milk!!!

  26. Awwww! That is so cute! Mitty does it all the time to Mom Julie especially if she's wearing fleece, hehe! Actually, it looks rather odd to me, but don't go by an old mancat codger like me!

  31. haha, i guess some pets cannot forget their babyhood habits! Wawa insists on depositing his butt on my lap sometimes, not realising that he is now 15kg instead of half kg.
