Unidentified Foreign Object

Oh my, we had several uneasy days!

It was Thursday night prior to last weekend.
Goro was throwing up badly.

Since it was after office hours, we took him to emergency
hospital. There they found a foreign object in his body.

Goro received treatments (iv fluid, antibiotic, etc.)
Doctor told us not to give him water/food for 12 hours.

Next morning, we visited our regular vet.

They didn't find anything bigger attached to the object.
It should pass and no need for surgical removal! Phew!

So back home, we served meal for Goro.

By this time, he got quite hungry.
Glad there was no vomiting after eating.

That night, Goro brought a present.
It was one of the most beautiful stools I've ever seen.

Unfortunately, I didn't find anything in it.
But Goro seemed to feel much better.

Following morning.
Back to vet as instructed on previous day.

On new X-ray, the foreign object was still there
but had moved. Doctor assured it'll  pass soon.

So I kept opening Goro's present.
(By myself...even though Goro wanted to join.)

It was this Wednesday, I found something in his stool.
But it looked like just part of feather...is this the object?

There is one way to find out.

X-ray showed Goro's inside was clean and clear!
The foreign object is gone!

We've been careful not to leave harmful items out but...
We need to be more careful.

Please don't scare me like this again, Goro.

Need to be really, really careful.

***

We wish everyone an easy weekend!!

  1. My human always puts away toys that have things on them that might be Inappropriate Eating Items. I am so glad you feel better now, Goro! Although all those trips to the vet must have gotten pretty old!

  2. Holy Cod! Goro! We're glad you didn't need surgery, but that was WAY TOO MANY trips to the vet and we're sure, way too much $$$$. Yikes!

  3. Ai Yi Yi!!!!! Goro, stick to eating foodables, please!

Daddy once found a poop in the box that had a 4" length of RAWHIDE shoe lace embedded in it...he thought it was a dead mousie at first. But of course, he did dissection, too.

    And found out otherwise.

  4. Oh Goro, I'm always eating stuff I'm not supposed to eat, too. The mom has to watch and make sure all string toys are put away. The last thing I ate was the Neko Fly. The mom thinks it came out okay.

I'm glad you are okay now...you don't wanna go to the v-e-t again!

  5. Goro, I am so sorry about this and for your mom and dad. I am very very grateful that you are alright and well again and eating. That is very frightening and a good lesson for the rest of us moms and dads about leaving toys out. I have always read not to do that, and this is the best example ever. Thank you for telling us.

  6. Oh Goro!!! what an scary ordeal. We are so relieved to hear all is now well. We admit to being fascinated by the ex-ray. This is a good lesson is checking all toys and small household objects.

  7. Dearest Tamago,

That was really scary. The unknown is what worries you. We never know if it is because of chemicals inside the coloring of those feathers? And like humans, some days we feel fine and can handle almost anything and than you get sick. Glad it worked out. Priceless Goro's 'hand' underneath the bathroom door! Also the way he BEGGED his Daddy for not taking him to the vet anymore. We have to bring all our 5 siblings this coming week. It is quite an ordeal. They all HATE their basket. But let's hope we manage to put them in and transport them. It's only around the corner for us, real easy.
    Hugs to all of you,
    Mariette

  22. Well, Goro, darling boy, if you didn't consume the Inappropriate Foodstuff, you would not have had to make all those trips to the vet (and cost your Peeps all that worry and green papers!)

I am not a good boy in very many ways, but I never-but-never eat anything that is not 100% genuine food. See? I am a smart boy, after all!

I am glad you are so much better!

  24. Hello Dearest Tamago-san,
Wow, how scary you must have been!!! The picture that Goro asking Dad not take him vet again touched me. Yes, he must have had a hard time with all the treatments there (#^.^#) Sometimes, these things happen beyoud our cautions, right...

    大変な1週間でしたね☆☆☆ Goroちゃん;病気でなくて良かったけれど、もう心配かけちゃだめだよ。

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Goro, just chase the prey, don't eat it.
We have to put all the string and feather toys away when the people aren't there to supervise too.
