Niko, on the other hand, always-always
brings one particular toy - this birthday cake.
One day, I noticed the cake was getting worn out.
Maybe it's time for this old toy to retire.
So I got him a new nip cake.
Getting to know each other...
Then I put the new cake next to
the birthday cake.
BUT Niko continued to bring
his birthday cake toy.
After a while, I got another nip toy.
This time, the same birthday cake from the
same company as the one he has.
Getting to know each other...
Then I put the new cake next to
the original cake.
BUT again, Niko continued to bring
his old birthday cake.
I guess it has to work for a while longer.
Sorry, old cake - No retirement for you yet :-)
P.S. I washed cakes together, rubbed my scent,
etc. but nothing convinced Niko to switch!

OH, Niko-san, Goro-san, mommy and I both LOVED this today. The two of you doing what I do...bringing love and sweetness to our Mom's by bringing them toys. You know what? My mom found another Donkey! And she laid him down with old Donkey who is in terrible, awful, tattered shape. But while I made the acquaintance of new Donkey, he stayed there on the carpet with Lion and everyone else, while old Donkey and I stayed together. WE don't care how terrible our babies look. WE love them and want only them. XXOOXXX 💗

ReplyDeleteHaha, exactly the same with Bandido's Bouncy Mouse that has almost no belly left but he still fetches her! Did replace them with a set of others of which he ATE the arms off one and still loves his old Mousy...
Scent is important to them but we humans have a hard time to wash away the faintest trace...

Typical cat ! Rosie has green and red mousies but she only plays with the green once. Now I am in trouble because the green once are used and into pieces, but they only have red once. So she doesn't play !

This is very sweet! I appreciate Niko's loyalty to his birthday cake. We have a catnip toy shaped like a big bottle of Merlot wine. It's funny to see the cats dragging it around the house.
