A Shining Star

Hawaii is one of my favorite places.

I love the beautiful ocean...

Yummy food

Laid-back atmosphere

But the best part is LOCATION!

Hawaii is right at the halfway point between
Japan and mainland U.S.

Last year, I got to visit Hawaii twice. Met up
with my Japanese family in spring, then
my friend N-Chan from Tokyo in summer.

N-Chan and I share the love for fur kids.

While in Hawaii, we talked passionately about
our fur kids and how wonderful they are.

Earlier this week. After long happy years,
her beloved boy Vitz left this world.

My heart breaks for N-Chan and her husband.

Photo borrowed from her Instagram page

In the dark night on the island of Hawaii, we
looked up and admired the sky filled with stars.

Vitz, the new star, is now shining among them.

Sky over busy Tokyo won't show all these stars.

But I'm sure that N-Chan will find Vitz - because
he will shine the brightest for his parents.

  1. Dearest Tamago,
So sorry for your friend N-Chan and the loss of their precious fur baby Vitz. He was so sweet and no doubt very intelligent and loving. We never forget our fur babies that went ahead of us!
Happy you got to meet halfway in Hawaii. We enjoyed our vacation there and at the Hyatt Regency were mainly Japanese guests and us... Lovely island and great nature!
    Hugs,

  22. You have made me smile so much with this blog about your visit to Hawaii...I so wish to go too...and about your visit with your family and then with N- Chan. Seeing the dogs you made friends with. I was sad for N-Chan and her husband because losing our fur kids is a pain that never stops fully. It recedes, but you miss your babies forever and always. I know she has love to offer to another precious fur kid. You are right...that star will shine and she will absolutely know it is Vitz. We parents always do. XXXOOOXXX to you, your husband, Niko-san and Goro-san.

  26. I'm so sorry your friend lost Vitz. It's so hard to lose a beloved pet.

I've never been to Hawaii, but ever since I been watching the TV show Hawaii Five-0, it's on my wish list. Unfortunately, it's quite far away from Portugal.

  32. Oh how beautiful these fur babies are! And I really love the cute map you made! I have a number of favorite countries, there's a favorite when it comes to food, another when it comes to views and landscapes, but Japan is my favorite when it comes to people. Japanese people are the best and probably the one that ever nation should imitate. I never get lost on both my trips to Japan. Because even before I ask, a Japanese will come to me and ask if they can help me.

My heart aches for N-chan and her husband for the loss of Vitz :( Dogs and pets come and go but they are all very special and each irreplacable. We learn to find new friends we love as much but those have passed will always share the same chunk of our hearts.
